Tea For Five

By Zandi Dandizette

Participatory Art Shrine Installation

Altaregos Show 2014

Drone sound played in the background as candles burned about in a basement room draped in sheets. The candles burned all night and the viewer was invited to stare into the mirror at themselves being the fifth of the tea party. The party was reminiscent childhood games surrounding calling up the spirits such as with an Ouija board or chanting a name such as Bloody Mary. The viewer was invited to give part of themselves to the shrine to complete the ritual.

Fun Historical Fact: There used to be more gay and lesbian content in early silent films until religious groups protested resulting in “decency standards.”

THE WAY THE ONE GIRL LOOKS DOWN ALL SHY AND THE OTHER CUPS HER FACE SO SWEETLY TO COMFORT HER- AHHHH

THIS IS MY FAVORITE GIF OF ALL TIME. I ALWAYS GET HAPPY WHEN I SEE IT ON MY DASH GAAAAH.
